Betty Crocker going gluten free!
More big-named manufacturers are getting in to the GF swing of things. Later this summer, Betty Crocker will be introducing four new gluten free mixes:
* devil's food cake
* vanilla cake
* chocolate chip cookies
* brownies
According to their website, Betty Crocker got the idea to go GF when they saw 2 of their employees adapting to the GF lifestyle. The website clearly says that these products are produced in a dedicated gluten free facility. Ingredient labels have not been posted yet, so I am not sure about other potential allergens. The website lists dairy free preparation options.
Although they won't cost the same as regular mixes (nor will they be eligible for the same coupon discounts), Better Crocker says that the mixes will be priced less than most GF mixes on the market.
They are also putting their money where their mouth is by sponsoring both the Celiac Disease Foundation and the Celiac Sprue Association.
I'm sure the mixes contain sugar, so someone will have to try them and let me know what they think!
